PROJECT OVERVIEW
In order to provide an enhanced pre and post match experience a futuristic extension to the East Stand Concourse at Derby County Football Club has been designed. The extension will provide a destination for retail, dining and drinking for both match day spectators and usage on non-match days. The scheme incorporates a new area with several bars, restaurants and retail outlets. The plans are a direct extension to the existing stadium and will provide additional floor space of almost 350 square meters.
Externally the architectural concept for the proposed building's appearance derives from the exposed structure of the existing stadium and the football club's badge. The proposed black arching structures strike an imposing elevation as a series of rib colonnades wrap over the main building and support the structural envelope, these curved ram-shaped features will create a contemporary, 21st century extension, benefiting the iconic nature of the stadium. This is a significant and exciting project.
