Residential Development in Scropton, Staffordshire
Located in the centre of Scropton, Staffordshire this residential development introduces ten new traditionally designed family homes to a semi-rural village setting. The site, previously agricultural land with farm buildings and sheds, was acquired by the developer with outline planning permission. Following the purchase, Matthew Montague Architects was appointed to handle the Reserved Matters application, which included refining the site layout and developing the detailed design for four house types.
Each dwelling has been carefully designed to reflect traditional architectural proportions while meeting the needs of modern family living. Spacious interiors, well-balanced elevations, and large openings ensure natural light and countryside views are maximised, creating homes that feel both established and contemporary.
The site has an extended landscape buffer, which has been incorporated to soften the transition between the development and the surrounding countryside. Featuring mature trees, high hedgerows, and green spaces, this buffer enhances biodiversity while ensuring the homes sit comfortably within their rural context.
The original landowner will occupy one of the properties, while the remaining homes will be released for sale in phases as construction progresses.
Through a considered approach to site planning and architectural design, this development strengthens the character of Scropton, delivering high-quality homes that respond to both the landscape and the needs of modern family life.
